Description of the program:

We are delighted and honored to invite you to the celebration of International Romani Day, organized by Romano Kher.

The event will take place on Monday, April 8, 2024, in the Ceremonial Hall of the Budapest Metropolitan Mayor's Office and other locations. Throughout the day, we will honor Romani culture and heritage with special programs.

• 10:00 - 10:30: Official opening in the Ceremonial Hall of the Budapest Mayor's Office, with the singing of the Anthem, speeches by Gergely Karácsony, Mayor of Budapest, Anett Bősz, Deputy Mayor, Gábor Kerpel-Fronius, Deputy Mayor, and a performance by the Romano Kher theater group, as well as a program by students of the Rajkó Talent Music School, and a speech by Melinda Rézműves, Director of the Romano Kher Budapest Roma Cultural Center.

• 10:30: Placement of the Romani Flag on the building of the Budapest Mayor's Office

• 10:30 - 11:00: Walk to the Danube bank in front of the Vigadó

• 11:00 - 11:30: Floating flowers in the Danube at Jane Haining Quay, accompanied by a performance from the students of the Rajkó Talent Music School

• 18:00: As the day's closing event, a celebration of Romani Culture Day at Romano Kher, featuring a concert by members of the Budapest Bár Band

Admission to the celebration is free, but we ask that you arrive at the venue on time to ensure the availability of seating.

This event is a unique opportunity to celebrate the richness of Romani culture and to promote dialogue and understanding between different cultures. We warmly welcome you to spend this special day together with us.
