Description of the program:
🎭 Romano Teatro: Antigone Rock Musical 🎭
A reimagining of the classic Greek tragedy!
Our story takes place in modern times, set in a restaurant.
King Oedipus's two sons, Polyneices, who attacked the city, and Eteocles, who defended it, both perish in battle. Creon, a scrap metal dealer and the ruler of the city, forbids the townspeople from burying Polyneices.
Antigone, who is preparing to marry Creon's son Haemon, defies the order and buries Polyneices. In response, Creon, wielding his absolute power, sentences his son's fiancée to death. Despite the prophecies of Teiresias, the Romani seer, Creon issues commands that ultimately lead to the deaths of his loved ones, Eurydice and Haemon.
The adaptation was written by Dezső Szegedi, a recipient of the Jászai Mari Award.
